UW 2011 - Digital Media and Leadership (Chinese Principals Group)
China is no stranger to the impact of digital media on young learners. 7.5 million Chinese accounts had been activated compared to rough estimates of 2.5 million anywhere else.
This made for a surreal moment of talking to high school principals from China about the impact of gaming media. Like US principals they wonder about the value of play, parental wisdom, and how to leverage positive engagement and motivation tools for learning spaces.
Today I shared a broad view of the field of gaming media studies with a particular eye on what school leadership needs to know and think about for the 21st-century.
A special thanks to David Joiner, from UW-Madison, for the opportunity to talk with and share research from the field. Also, Chris Blakesley for the soccer pics at the beginning.
